and gold masterpoints, of which at least 25 must be gold. Any new member
or player in an inactive status for six months or more after Jan. 1,
1999, will be required to earn 50 black points to become a Life Master.
**This is the highest rank in the ACBL. It requires
10,000 masterpoints and one victory in one of the following: NABC+ event
with no upper masterpoint limit, Open or Women's Team Trials or its
equivalent, or any of the following WBF events: Bermuda Bowl, Venice Cup
Rosenblum Cup, McConnell Cup, Open Pairs, Women's Pairs, Team Olympiad
or Women's Team Olympiad.

FORMER MEMBERS REJOINING
Former ACBL members who reapply for membership
shall have their
previous master point holdings reestablished
without charge if their
period of non-membership is seven years or
less. If the period exceeds
seven years, reinstated members must produce
evidence of their
previously recorded master points.
Former ACBL members who reinstate their
membership shall be given full
credit for any "grandfather" flags or Bonus
Gold Points previously
earned. (Board of Directors - July, 1986)

________________
GOLD POINTS FOR FILL-IN PAIRS
Pairs filling in for one session of a two
session event receive any
gold points earned.
ABA MEMBERS
Effective March 30, 1995 an ABA member who
joins ACBL for the first
time will receive 10% of his total ABA points
as a credit in ACBL
black points to a maximum of 200 points.
(Board of
Directors - November, 1994)
For purposes of seeding, handicapping,
eligibility to masterpoint
limited events, etc., American Bridge
Association (ABA) points will be
converted to ACBL points at the ratio of two
(2) ABA points to one (1)
ACBL masterpoint and added to the player's ACBL
masterpoints.
An ABA Life Master will be treated as an ACBL
Life Master when it
involves any of the items in #1 above.
(Board of
Directors - July, 1991)
NOTE: All current members of the ABA that are
not now, or, have not
been a member of ACBL for at least five years
and who meet other
eligibility requirements, may purchase a one
(1) year membership to
ACBL for $10 or its Canadian equivalent
including CBF fees.
(Board of
Directors - July 1998)
NON-MEMBERS OF ACBL PLAYING IN EVENTS LIMITED
BY MASTERPOINTS
The right of a non-member of ACBL to play in an
event restricted by
masterpoints is subject to approval by the DIC
of that tournament.
NOTE: The spirit of this policy is to insure
that players do not enter
events for which they are over (or under)
qualified.
(Office Policy 3/91)
MASTERPOINT ELIGIBILITY FOR FLIGHTS AND STRATS
The DIC of an ACBL sanctioned tournament may
require an ACBL member to
enter a Flight, Strat, or Bracket above that
dictated by his ACBL
masterpoint holding if the member is deemed to
have equivalent bridge
experience. The DIC may require a non-member
to enter a Flight, Strat
or Bracket equivalent to that non-members past
bridge experience. The
DIC may require any entrant who is a member of
another NCBO to play in
Flight A if a lower status is not confirmed by
the other NCBO.
Units and Districts have the same authority
regarding NAOP and GNT
participation at any level under their
jurisdiction.
(Board of
Directors - November, 1998)
FLIGHT ELIGIBILITY OF PAIRS THAT HAVE
REPRESENTED THEIR COUNTRY IN WBF
EVENTS
Non-ACBL members who have represented their
country in WBF World
Championship events organized by the WBF, when
playing in ACBL
stratified or flighted events, they are
required to play in Flight A.
Players may request exemption from this rule
for valid cause.
(Board of
Directors - March 1991)

EVENT RESTRICTION ON PLAYERS WHO EARN MP STATUS
No member, having once achieved an ACBL
masterpoint ranking, may
thereafter participate in any event, or receive
any award, intended
for players of a lower ranking, except as
specifically authorized in
other ACBL regulations.
(This regulation allows a director to
disqualify a former member from
a limited event who is returning to play after
a long hiatus.)

Directors - July 1984) |
